Oct. 15-19

We had another busy week in kindergarten!   But we found TIME to make a RHYME!

Language Arts: Our letter of the week was R. Our sight word was "said." We read Oh A-Hunting We Will Go and made a response book of our own with rhyming words. We made rhyme boxes and notices rhymes in our poems this week.  Miss Lundeen came in to lead a fun rhyming game.  We made a rhyme game of our own to bring home.  We made Review Sound Book 5. Our sounds were y, x, ch, and sh.

Math: We played a Shapes By Feel game using attributes to find a specific shape without looking!  We learned a Pattern Train game which involved creating a pattern then, with a rool of a die, either extending our taking some away.  We practiced writing numbers 1-20.  We focused on the "over the hump" numbers like 29, 39, 49, to count to the next tens number.  Teens numbers were practiced as we played the Teens Ten Frame game.

Science: Thank you to everyone who remembered to send a rock to school. We had some who brought a few and were able to share. We studied our rocks with a magnifying glass and made a rock report. It was neat to see the different types of rocks and their characteristics!  It was fun to make a rock report!

Social Studies: We focused on fire safety this week. We read stories and wrote about things firefighters do to help our community.

Notes:  Thank you to Mrs. Sajja for helping in the computer lab and to Mrs. Dulam, Mrs. Swanson and others for donating supplies.

Have a great weekend!
